Gwenn Amice

Subject Matter Expert, Physical layer and monitoring, EXFO

Gwenn Amice served in the French Navy before joining the Opto-electronic R&D telecom industry in 1995 aboard a startup that became the CISCO DWDM transport platform pillar.

As the development of new high-speed technologies evolved, he introduced new DWDM transport platforms in industrialization, production, customer demonstration and field deployment in Europe, Asia and Americas until he moved to Canada in 2000.

After a one-year experience as outside plant Engineer for Vidéotron in Montréal, he joined EXFO in 2001 as Subject Matter Expert, focusing on next generation optical networks and acting as a technical advisor to EXFO’s customers.

Since 2019 Gwenn Amice has been appointed Senior member of technical staff representing EXFO at industry standard events and interfacing with EXFO product development groups.

Mr. Amice holds a university degree in electrical engineering and industrial computing, and he is a member of the Broadband Forum Americas Technology Committee

François Marcotte

Senior Applications Engineer, EXFO

François Marcotte is a Senior Applications Engineer currently working at EXFO in Montreal, Canada. With more than 28 years in the telecommunication industry, he began his career at Bell Canada as an installer and repair man. He was involved in QAM HFC system design and integration in early 90’s.

Over the years, François has developed strong knowledge on Ethernet, MPEG, OTN and optical transport. He is continuously working with customers as a technical advisor for Ethernet, optical transport testing, performances test procedure and training. François is involved with product definition at EXFO for Ethernet and optical transport product. He is also a regular speaker in various seminars in North America.

François graduated from the Ecole Polytechnique de Montreal, as an Electrical Engineer.

   
   

Understanding and testing Remote-PHY and DOCSIS 3.1

Remote PHY (R-PHY) is a key transformation towards next-generation gigabit networks. CATV and multiple-system operators (MSOs) are prepping their networks to support DOCSIS 3.1 and eventually FTTH/EPON. These rollouts push fiber ever deeper and closer to subscribers to ensure a better quality of experience.

This educational webinar will focus on the deployment of DOCSIS 3.1 using the Remote PHY DAA architecture. The 45-minute session will cover various aspects of deployment starting with an overview of DOCSIS 3.1 and explaining why R-PHY is the preferred technology. The webinar will also cover the best practices in testing fiber, DWDM and services including synchronization.
