Gary Macknofsky

Product Line Manager

Gary Macknofsky has been a key contributor to EXFO’s Transport and Datacom division for the past 18 years. Gary has had various roles at EXFO from product verification, Tech support, Datacom Product specialist, and finally into his current role of Product Line Manager. Among his numerous accomplishments as a Product Line Manager (PLM), Gary was responsible for the launch of the successful NetBlazer series.

Each home, school, business or other type of customer has different requirements when it comes to upstream and downstream broadband speeds delivered over fiber—from basic to ultra-fast. To deliver the right speed to the right customer, service providers are deploying both next-generation (XG-PON, XGS-PON, 10G-EPON and NG-PON2) and legacy (GPON, EPON) passive optical local area networks (PONs ) by overlaying multiple new wavelengths on existing fibers. This becomes challenging for field technicians, because for each stage of the network lifecycle—deployment, activation and troubleshooting—the correct tools and techniques can be different. This session examines the latest trends in PON technologies and techniques for deploying and maintaining these fiber optic networks as efficiently as possible.
