EXFO Introduces iOptics, the Industry’s First Solution to Quickly and Accurately Validate Any Pluggable Transceiver from 10M to 100G

QUEBEC CITY, CANADA, June 9, 2016 — EXFO Inc. (NASDAQ: EXFO) (TSX: EXF) announced today the launch of iOptics, an intelligent pluggable optics test application for field and lab environments to efficiently evaluate the proper operation of transceivers using minimal user configuration.

Today, new high-speed networks are increasingly complex and high-speed transceivers, which are at the core of these networks, are still at a high risk of failure. In response, EXFO is pleased to introduce the next-generation offering of the industry’s pioneering CFP Health Check test capabilities. Building on its established expertise in CFP validation, EXFO leads the industry once again with the introduction of iOptics.

iOptics offers a complete, powerful and easy-to-use tool for CFP and QSFP qualification and can validate the full range of low- to high-rate transceivers including SFP, SFP+, XFP, CFP, CFP2, CFP4, QSFP+ and QSFP28. iOptics offers a faster, streamlined and automated test sequence aimed at quickly and simply validating any type of 10M to 100G interface. It is the ideal solution for multirate field commissioning with a simple one-button pass/fail. It offers automated stress testing for lab qualification and is also ideally suited for data center and data center interconnect (DCI) testing.

Available on FTBx-88200NGE Power Blazer and FTB-890/890NGE NetBlazer modules, iOptics provides a smart, automated and simple way to test the proper function of transceivers. It provides a pass/fail verdict based on pre-defined or autonomously discovered thresholds. The test allows any fault to be quickly pinpointed to a specific area of the optical device under test.

“By addressing challenges related to pluggable optics, EXFO enables CSPs and NEMs to rapidly scale their networks and reduce time-to-service without compromising network stability and performance,” said Claudio Mazzuca, Vice-President of EXFO’s Transport and Service Assurance Division. “We realize that pluggable optics are key to cost-effective and reliable high-speed deployments moving forward, and we are committed to offering powerful yet simple test coverage to meet high-speed technology advances, market requirements and field-testing needs.”
