AI fabric

What is an AI fabric?

An AI fabric is the high-performance network infrastructure that connects compute, storage and accelerator resources within an AI data center. It carries the high-volume east-west traffic generated by AI training and inference, enabling GPUs and other accelerators to exchange data at high speed and low latency.

Why is an AI fabric important?

Modern AI clusters rely on thousands of interconnected processors working in parallel. Network bottlenecks can reduce accelerator utilization, extend training times and limit cluster scalability.

As AI infrastructure grows, bandwidth, latency, synchronization and resiliency must be managed across the entire network.

Key considerations

  • High-capacity interconnects between AI resources
  • Low-latency communication for distributed workloads
  • Scalable architectures that support cluster growth
  • End-to-end visibility across data center and inter-data-center networks
  • Testing and monitoring throughout the network lifecycle
