Lead analyst, Analysys Mason
Roberto is a member of Analysys Mason’s Telecoms Software and Networks research team and is the lead analyst for the Next-Generation Wireless Networks programme focusing on strategy and market research. He is also a Cambridge Wireless Special Interest Group (SIG) mobile broadband champion. Prior to joining Analysys Mason, Roberto worked for Dixons Carphone, where he analysed the effect on the business of shifts in the telecoms market – for example, in terms of mergers, operator KPIs and technology – in Europe and the UK. Previous positions included consultancy, where he helped a variety of clients worldwide with mobile-related projects, such as a capex reduction and developing a 5-year strategy for an incumbent’s wireless infrastructure. He started his career at a leading network equipment vendor, where he served in several different capacities, such as R&D, and deployment and optimisation of mobile infrastructures across multiple continents. Roberto holds an MSc in Mobile & Satellite Communications from University of Surrey and an MBA from IE Business School.
Director of Test, Monitoring and Analytics Solutions
Ken has a diverse background in the telecommunications industry spanning more than 30 years. He is currently focused on understanding how virtualization and 5G will change the way people and machines communicate and how operators will leverage automation, artificial intelligence and machine learning to better manage the customer’s quality of experience in this new reality—which in the end is all that matters.
Prior to joining EXFO, Ken held leadership roles in Solutions Marketing and Product Line Management with Nortel, Harris Broadcast, ADTRAN and Accedian Networks, focused on optical transport and Carrier Ethernet service assurance and performance monitoring.
Ken holds a Batchelor of Applied Science in Electrical Engineering from Queen’s University at Kingston Ontario.
Product Line Manager
Xanthos N. Angelides currently holds the position of Product Line Manager at EXFO for the Nova RAN product line. Having joined EXFO in June 2019, Xanthos is focused on redefining the Nova RAN roadmap and overall market positioning with an aim to emphasize the value that geolocation and RAN insights bring to network operators deploying and managing next-generation networks. Xanthos has been working in the RAN space for the past 20 years holding various roles in network planning and optimization consulting, solutions management and sales.
Please plan on attending this interactive web-event as Roberto Kompany, Senior Analyst at Analysys Mason, Xanthos Angelides, Product Line Manager of RAN solutions at EXFO, and Ken Gold, Director of Test, Monitoring and Analytics at EXFO, discuss key lessons learned in 5G NSA rollouts, and what this means for 5G SA.
According to a July 2020 GSA report, the number of commercially launched 5G networks is now approaching 100—but perhaps more interestingly, MNOs around the world are now shifting their rollout plans towards 5G standalone (SA). At the same time, MNOs have discovered that building and operating 5G networks is significantly more challenging than 4G. Beyond just tighter specifications, MNOs are finding the increased network complexity, RAN evolution, spectrum availability, and the shift towards cloud-native means operations teams and their legacy systems are reaching their limit.
This interactive panel event will focus on:
• Key challenges and lessons learned from early 5G deployments,
• Interactive audience surveys to augment panelists insights, and
• Lively discussions on lessons learned and audience feedback
