High-fiber-count cable

What is a high-fiber-count cable?

A high-fiber-count cable is a fiber-optic cable containing many individual fibers within a single cable structure. These cables are used in hyperscale and AI data centers, campus and DCI networks, and other environments where high connectivity density is required.

Why are high-fiber-count cables important?

High-fiber-count cables support large numbers of optical connections while conserving space in pathways, trays and ducts. They provide a scalable foundation for increasingly fiber-dense infrastructure.

However, higher fiber counts make fiber identification, inspection, polarity validation, certification, troubleshooting and results management more complex.

Key testing considerations

  • Accurate identification of individual fibers
  • Connector inspection and cleaning
  • Insertion-loss, length and polarity validation
  • Efficient simplex, duplex and multi-fiber testing
  • Scalable, repeatable test workflows
  • Automated results management and reporting
