We Go Apps for Apps

Smartphone usage has soared to all-time highs and is still on the rise, with the number of active smartphone devices around the world expected to total 1.4 billion by the end of 2013. Now more than ever, people across the globe are using wireless devices such as smartphones, tablets and e-readers for all of their day-to-day activities as opposed to wired computers.

The increasing penetration of mobile devices and mobile applications such as websites, gaming, video streaming, downloading and voice services has led to enormous growth in network traffic, which is outpacing growth in network connections. Growing consumer demand for anywhere, anytime access to content means that data-heavy apps and videos are driving the demand for services using the wireless spectrum, but the performance of these mobile applications is highly dependent upon real-time wireless radio-signal quality.

As a result, quality of experience (QoE) and quality of service (QoS) are now more important than ever. This essentially means that new tools are required to probe, monitor, analyze and report real-time behaviors as experienced by end users, and to provide the metrics needed to ensure faster response times for anticipated and reported problems. Accordingly, benchmarking wireless networks for enhanced QoS and end-user QoE is becoming a true differentiator.

To do so, MNOs need a low-cost solution providing visibility from the handset to the core, and that is also capable of validating mobile network services assurance without unnecessary truck rolls, repeat jobs and operational inefficiencies. Now, imagine that the solution was also wireless, and that all of this could all be achieved with a single smartphone application? This smartphone agent application does in fact exist, and is capable of validating all essential services defined by service-level agreements (SLAs) in mobile networks—and all at the touch of a button.  To learn more about EXFO’s new smartphone agent application that can optimize field-technician and engineer efficiency through first-time-right QoE validation, check out our upcoming Quality of Experience, the True Differentiator webinar, which will be taking place on November 5, 2013.
