Nova Worx delivers seamless service activation and 24/7 network monitoring via the management of Nova Active Agent performance probes. It controls every aspect of system operation—from the specification of SLAs to scheduling tests, configuring Nova Active Agent settings and creating reports.

A complete performance management system

The Nova Worx (previously known as EXFO Worx) software engine is the ideal service assurance and performance management solution for communications service providers (CSPs). Use its web-based Nova Worx operations center to control all aspects of your system operation—from the specification of service-level objectives, to scheduling tests, configuring Nova Active Agent (previously known as EXFO Verifier) settings, and creating detailed performance reports.

Nova Worx provides automatic service-level auditing and compliance analysis, real-time and historical reports, integration APIs and storage of performance data. Plan for capacity increases, verify service turn-ups and identify, diagnose and quickly resolve network and service performance issues before your customers are affected.

Carrier-class scalability, reliability and security

Nova Worx delivers carrier-class reliability and a distributed architecture that easily scales to accommodate worldwide networks deploying millions of Nova Active Agents. To ensure continuous availability and also maintain both the relevance and accuracy of collected performance data, the system supports full redundancy—easily weathering the loss of individual Nova Worx servers and Nova Active Agents through transparent fail-over to designated backups.

Nova Worx is designed with security in mind. Communication between Nova Worx and Nova Active Agents is encrypted to protect sensitive configuration and performance information. Fine-grained, policy-based access controls let network administrators manage which data and system capabilities are available to which users.

Core to edge visibility

With the ability to continuously collect, correlate, analyze and visualize critical QoS and QoE data from the network core right to the customer endpoint, Nova Worx delivers complete edge-to-edge as well as end-to-end visibility.

Gathering accurate performance statistics that truly reflect the end-to-end performance of any IP service is truly unique. Nova Active Agents create demarcation points and establish clear service boundaries. Probes are installed in data centers, PoPs and peering points for backbone-based services and directly at customer sites for enterprise services. Administrators can then segment their networks to more easily troubleshoot localized problems and identify root causes of service-performance issues.

Proactive service-level management

Proactive service-level management provides the opportunity to reroute traffic or reallocate resources to avoid costly service-level violations. Nova Worx software continuously audits collected performance data and automatically compares the results against customized service objective thresholds to warn of at-risk SLAs before a failure occurs. Flexible warning and failure thresholds can be set for individual services, specific customers or both. Operators can receive immediate e-mail, page or SNMP-trap notifications, or monitor the Nova Worx Operations Center to identify and track hot SLAs and services. Multi-service operators (MSOs), mobile service providers, cable companies and telcos can benefit from guaranteed, measurable and reportable service levels.

Full-service lifecycle support

Nova Worx software provides a single centralized solution for the entire service lifecycle—from service turn-up, to monitoring and troubleshooting—enabling CSPs to considerably reduce OPEX and grow revenues.

Through a systematic program of scheduled active tests that precisely simulates customer transactions, CSPs easily gain the visibility needed to guarantee service quality, properly implement QoS and cost-effectively roll-out new services—all while keeping their networks running smoothly and at peak performance.
