Accelerating turn-up and improving uptime in data center interconnections

Organizado por

Marcos Vasconcellos

Product Line Manager

Telecom system engineer with more than 20 years of experience with significant international exposure.

In 2012, Marcos joined EXFO working within the System Verification Team covering a vast range of Transport and Datacom applications from 10M to 100G as well as all EXFO T&D platforms and modules. Since December 2014 he has been a member of the EXFO Product Line Management organization for the high speed solutions and applications: OTN, SONET/SDH, Ethernet applications (RFC2544, Y.1564, EBERT, etc.).

Prior to EXFO, Marcos held several telecom system positions within telecom product manufacturers and operators. The core of these activities was related to system verification, product acceptance and certification in the following technologies: NMS/SNMP systems, point-to-point microwave radios, fixed and mobile WiMAX devices, LTE devices, mobile phones and portable devices.

Les Nagy

Business Development Manager

Les Nagy has spent 20-plus years working for optical transport vendors designing and selling long-haul, metro and DCI interconnect solutions for webscale accounts.

Les began his time with EXFO 3 years ago in webscale account management, working with the handheld test and measurement product line. He moved to fiber monitoring where he currently manages business development with global webscale accounts

Data center interconnect (DCI) technology is responsible for carrying a significant portion of the world's data traffic. According to a report by Cisco, global IP traffic was expected to reach 51.4 exabytes per day by 2022. Much of this traffic is generated by data centers, and a significant portion of that data is carried on DCI links. DCI links are crucial for supporting both personal entertainment (i.e., video streaming and cloud gaming) and business-critical operations. To ensure these links are robust and reliable, it's important to implement proper testing and monitoring strategies throughout both turn-up and ongoing operations.

In this webinar, you will learn:

  • How centralized fiber testing enables smooth turn-up by confirming fiber-optic link integrity and performance
  • How to achieve maximum uptime throughout the network lifecycle with continuous monitoring by:
    • Enabling pro-active maintenance thanks to identifying degradations before they become critical
    • Enabling faster service restoration after an outage thanks to precise fault location and repair validation
  • Best strategies for deploying DCI links, including which elements to track and which aspects to validate
  • Fundamentals of coherent links (i.e., 400ZR, OpenZR+) including when to use each one
  • How to troubleshoot DCI links and transceivers
