OLTS Field Testing with the MaxTester 945 and FTBx 945 Modules

Optical loss and reflection

A refresher of fiber-optic theory and an overview of insertion loss (IL) and optical return loss (ORL) testing using optical loss test sets (OLTS). Attendees will learn how to operate the MaxTester and MultiTest instruments in manual and automated (FasTesT) modes.

Prerequisites

Basic comprehension of math and physics

Methodology

The first part of this course consists of lectures using PowerPoint presentations and demonstrations, while the second part provides practical training with hands-on testing exercises. The course also covers IL and ORL measurements with the instruments and delves into features such as the optical talk set, text messaging, VFL and FasTesT automated testing.
