Developing Tomorrow’s FTTH and Broadband Experts

EXFO is constantly seeking to contribute to the development of the FTTH engineers and technicians, and broadband technicians of the future. As part of this initiative, I had the honor earlier this week to represent EXFO APAC in signing a Letter of Collaboration with the ITE (Institute of Technical Education) College East, one of the technical colleges in Singapore, along with our channel partner, Stellent Networks. The ITE is a key resource in the industry as it is frequently invited by local service providers to provide professional courses to their engineers and technicians.

The objectives of this agreement with the school of Electronics and Info-Comm Technology, which is ITE’s broadband technology and services (BTS) centre, is to provide students with an authentic learning environment and exposure to real-life industry practices in the fields of optical test and measurement, broadband services assurance and industry attachment.

This partnership will also provide ITE staff with opportunities for capability development aimed at introducing market-relevant innovation and technology.

We are proud to be one of the sponsors providing optical test measurement equipment, such as the FTB-1/730 OTDRs, FOT-602 and FIP-400, in addition to software, such as EXFO’s iOLM and ConnectorMAX licenses, to support the new specialization training of the school of Electronics and Info-Comm Technology at ITE College East, in addition to providing support and training to ITE staff to equip them with the skills required for optical test and measurement and broadband services assurance.

We look forward to continuing this partnership, notably in the service assurance area, and contributing even more to the training of students in job-related skill sets that will expand their understanding of broadband and/or FTTH technologies.
