Job summary

The EXFO Solution Specialist –will be responsible for providing market intelligence and contribute to the business strategy on the Broadband Access & Optical Fiber Network Construction markets

As a key member of the innovation team, the Solution Specialist will work closely with the solution managers to establish the roadmap and prioritization of future solution development for the Broadband access and optical fiber network construction market. To do so, the solution specialist will have to work closely with customers to understand the user journeys, challenges, and undressed needs and see where EXFO’s instruments and software ecosystem can bring added value.

This position requires occasional business traveling. (20-25%)

If necessary, the candidate may work on other related duties.



What you’ll do

  • Close interaction with customers to understand user journeys, challenges, and unaddressed needs including travel to do ride along with customers.
  • Market and technology watch
  • Competitive analysis and benchmark
  • Support the solution manager in defining the 3 years strategic vision for the broadband access and fibre optic network construction solutions.
  • Support business partnership
  • Communicate the solution roadmap to the sales team and customers
  • Participate in thought leadership activities: Articles, webinars, speaking engagements to live audiences
  • Participate in the elaboration of marketing plans
  • Participate in trade shows.
  • Participate in new solutions introduction
  • Support the sales team in the positioning of new solutions

What we’re looking for

Technical skills

  • Knowledge of the broadband access and optical fiber network construction markets.
  • Understanding of the test and measurement instruments for telecom applications. (Optical and Transport & datacom)

Required aptitudes

  • Analytic and strategic
  • Business oriented
  • Creative/innovative
  • Good communicator: Ability to present in front of small and large audiences.
  • Ability to work with multiple departments in the organization (Sales, R&D. Marketing, customer service…)
  • The ability to create effective sales collateral to promote solution advantages and value

Must have

Education:  Degree/Diploma in an Electronics/Telecom Engineering discipline or business administration

Language Requirements:  Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.  French language skills would be an asset.

Travel:  Willing and able to travel extensively, 20-25% of the time.

Pertinent experience5 years of related experience in dealing with customers. Any other combination of experience/studies will be considered.
