Optical Technician

Job summary

As a member of the R&D group, you participate in all stages of the development of test & measurement instruments for optical components for telecommunications. Within a multidisciplinary team and in a multi-site environment, you will take part in the development of cutting-edge products, considered to be the most efficient in the world in the field of instrumentation for optical fiber.

The Optical Technician is in charge of test operations for measuring devices under development. Depending on experience and projects, he also participates in the design of the product in collaboration with the other members of the team. He works with the Manufacturing Engineering team to transfer the product to production and provides technical support for the production team.


Your role

More specifically, the Optical Technician must:

  • Participate in the design and implementation of test benches which will be used to validate the functionality and performance of the products developed
  • Establish testing procedures
  • Plan and execute test plans for mock-ups and prototypes
  • Secondarily, depending on projects and experience, participate in the development of optical sub-assemblies of products (opto-mechanical assemblies, optical alignments)
  • Provide support to production engineering
  • Write the appropriate documentation
  • Provide first level technical support for production teams


What we are looking for

Technical skills

  • Mastery of measurement tools commonly used in optical tests and measurements
  • Good manual dexterity
  • Knowledge of electronics and LabVIEW programming would be a plus
  • Be comfortable with the Windows environment and the Office suite

Education: 2/3 years University degree in Optics, Physical Measurements or equivalent.

Relevant experience: ideally 2 years of experience relevant to the job.

Language requirement: French and English (spoken - basic and written)
