Germain Lamonde named EY Entrepreneur Of The Year 2018 Canada
Quebec City, CANADA, November 30, 2018 – Germain Lamonde, EXFO (NASDAQ: EXFO; TSX: EXF) founder and Executive Chairman of the Board has been named EY Entrepreneur Of The Year 2018 Canada at the 25th national EY awards gala in Toronto. After winning at the provincial and now at the national level, Mr. Lamonde will have the honor of representing Canada at the EY World Entrepreneur Of The Year Awards to be held in Monaco in June 2019.
On accepting the award, Lamonde said, “Like many companies, EXFO started with a somewhat crazy dream and an ambitious mission shared by a talented and determined team. The path of an exemplary entrepreneur
Mr. Lamonde founded EXFO in his apartment in 1985 upon finishing his master’s degree in physical and optical engineering. A consensus-building visionary, he has always had a knack for positioning EXFO as a key player in the fast-evolving global telecommunications industry. In Mr. Lamonde’s words, “Innovation means coming up with solutions that surpass our customers’ expectations. Success can be measured in patents, but especially in market share.”
Mr. Lamonde also plays a very active role in the community and the technology industry. In 2017 he made a sizeable donation to Université Laval’s Faculty of Sciences and Engineering. He was recently appointed Chairman of ENCQOR (Evolution of Networked Services through a Corridor in Québec and Ontario for Research and Innovation), which is focused on research and innovation in the field of 5G, and Chairman of the Quebec Digital Transformation Council, whose mission is to advise the Quebec government on key digital priorities.
