Software Engineer

United Kingdom, Spain

London and Valencia

Part of a worldwide R&D organization of approximately 650 engineers, you will be a leading member of the London/Valencia-based development team working on key products in the EXFO portfolio.  Current projects are focused on providing integrated, intelligent views of large network operators' inventory within the Adaptive Service Assurance platform. 

Your programming experience and strong interpersonal skills will help you to work productively within the cross-discipline team. You will get satisfaction from contributing to the timely delivery of high-quality software releases from the team.

You will benefit from knowledge sharing and joint development with other teams in EXFO, under the company's software driven strategy.  You will work closely with the Technical Product Owner and colleagues in the Professional Services team to ensure that they have the support and tools they need to deliver customer solutions.


What you’ll do

  • Lead product feature development, understanding the requirements and challenges of the problem space and collaborating on pragmatic solutions.  
  • Promote best Agile and programming practices.
  • Evaluate and utilise leading open-source and commercial software tools and libraries.
  • Provide coaching and support to other team members allowing them to develop in their roles.


What we’re looking for

Technical skills

  • In-depth knowledge and experience of working in an Agile software development team.
  • Strong, up-to-date, hands-on Java experience.
  • Experience of CI/CD and automated testing.
  • Experience of or active interest in containerization technologies.
  • Other desirablePython, Javascript and general web development. Knowledge of NoSQL and/or graph stores.

Required aptitudes

  • Collaborative and constructive approach to working in development teams.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Self-motivated, results-oriented with a natural  to learn, share and grow.
  • Track record of delivering quality software.
  • Solid written and verbal communication skills.


​​​​​​​Language requirements: Fluent in English.  Knowledge of French and/or Spanish considered an asset.

Education: Honours degree or equivalent in Computer Science or related field
