Position Summary:

As a Linux Desktop Specialist, you will be responsible for implementing the entire Linux desktop deployment strategy. This includes zero-touch provisioning, security, software deployment, performance management and integration with existing tools. We will have to work with other teams to find solutions to the different needs. EXFO is a high-tech company with significant challenges. As such, our staff must be prepared for complex challenges.

Your role:

• Automating the installation of Linux stations
• Securing Linux stations
• Automate the installation of enterprise software on Linux stations
• Troubleshooting all Linux systems, including performance issues
• Train other IT employees on Linux, how it works, troubleshooting, ...
• Suggest improvements to processes and procedures

What we are looking for

Technical skills : 

• Very good knowledge in Linux distributions: Ubuntu, Fedora and others
• Very good knowledge in Linux package distribution systems, including repository management such as Red Hat Satellite, Foreman
• Very good knowledge in system security (CIS Benchmark, FIPS)
• Knowledge of at least one configuration tool: Ansible, Chef, Puppet or Saltstack
• Knowledge of operating system installation tools: Maas, Kickstart or other
• Knowledge of Git
• Knowledge of containerization tools such as Podman or Docker an asset
• Knowledge of scripting language such as Bash, Python or powershell, an asset

 Required skills:

• Able to work with little supervision
• Experience in a software development environment
• Assembler
• Ability to train others
• Customer service oriented.
• Autonomous and motivated.

 
Requirements

• Relevant experience: 3 years experience on Linux systems
• Language requirement: Bilingual (French and English)
• Education: AEC or DEC in computer science at least
