This course gives a complete overview of FTTA and DAS optical networks, including how to test your network at every testing point. Using the complete line of FTTA testing products, you will go through each testing scenario, from construction to activation and troubleshooting. Each topic is discussed and reviewed, with a hands-on session enabling participants to get a feel for the applications.

Testing and troubleshooting using FTTA and DAS testing application

  • Fundamental theory of optical time-domain reflectometry
  • OTDR measurement method vs. iOLM measurement method
  • Parameter settings for fiber link characterization (distance range, pulse width, averaging time, wavelength, index of refraction (IOR), helix factor)

Prerequisites

Methodology

Attendees will receive a binder containing copies of presentations and other printed handouts, if applicable. When available, a CD containing the electronic version (PDF format) of the presentation, as well as related application notes, will also be provided.
