Working with R&D team on high speed signal test equipment for next generation communication standards. Your principal responsibility, as an electronic designer, will be to design the next generation fiber optic test instrument used in EXFO’s portfolio of tests and measures products.
What you’ll do:
More specifically, and working in close collaboration with other R&D groups (e.g. FPGA, F/W, S/W, optical,etc.), your work will requires you to study and understand the new product’s requirements, design and implement circuitry to create optimal product-level solution. You will have to keep yourself up to date with relevant design standards, with design practices, with technologies and with components. Using leading edge electronic components, you will have to design a variety of digital circuits (including CPU, FPGA, high-speed interfaces, etc.) and analog electronic circuits (including interfaces, converter, DC/DC, AC/DC, etc.), guiding the CAD designer in the physical implementation of the PCB. In collaboration with the Components and Purchasing groups, you will also have to ensure proper management of the Bill of Material and associated Cost of Product. Finally, you will have to create and execute the required test plans for the circuit’s bring-up and qualification, eventually you will have to assist the various production groups for the transfer of your circuits to the factory for mass production. If necessary, you may also be required to perform other related duties that may fall under this position.
Fluent with Allegro PCB layout and Design Capture;
Fluent with communication bus and standards (PCIe, Ethernet, USB, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, I2C, etc.)
Fluent with the board-level requirement for various FPGA technologies (Xilinx and Intel);
Fluent with high-speed high-density design practices;
Knowledge with CPU-based architecture (CPU, DDR, FLASH, PCIe, peripheral, screen, etc.);
Knowledge of Mentor’s Graphics Xpedition suite of tools for Schematic Capture and CAD;
Excellent knowledge of the tools and principle of product’s life-cycle management (BoM, CoG,ECR/ECO, etc.);
Knowledge of telecommunication principles (Fiber, Ethernet, LTA, 5G, etc.);
Knowledge of analog circuits design, including power supply would be an asset;
Knowledge of certification principle (EMI, Safety, Wireless) will be an asset;
Knowledge of scripting language (PERL, Python) will be an asset;

Minimum 5 years of experience as Electronic Designer
Language requirements: English is a must (verbal and written).
Education: Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Electronics Engineering or equivalent
