Basic measurement techniques (IL and ORL)

This course is an abridged version of the FE-1031 course and focuses mainly on the practical aspects of tests for insertion loss (IL) and optical return loss (ORL). Attendees will learn how to measure these parameters using simple test instruments such as power meters, light sources and backreflectors, and qualify the loss budget of a fiber optic link.
