David J. Rodgers

Technical Business Development Manager

David J. Rodgers is a seasoned Test and Measurement (T&M) professional with wide-ranging experience in serial communications protocol and interconnect validation, and a focus on Ethernet network and Fibre Channel fabric solutions where he has been defining, designing, deploying and marketing a broad range of high-speed serial analysis T&M products for SANs and LANs. David has 35+ years industry experience in bringing new computer technologies to market with a wide-ranging background in business, program management and product development of serial protocol T&M solutions. He is an original member of the USB Implementers Forum and one of the pioneer marketers of USB protocol analyzers. David represents EXFO for high-speed interconnect test technologies including Ethernet and Fibre Channel in various protocol industry groups such as IEEE, T10/T11 standards bodies, the Ethernet Alliance and the Fibre Channel Industry Association.

Rick Talbot

Principal analyst of Intelligent Optical Networking at ACG Research

Rick Talbot, principal analyst for the Intelligent Optical Networking and 5G RAN xHaul practices, combines expertise in network access, transport (particularly optical networking) and switching technologies, including Software-Defined Networking (SDN), and a deep understanding of the telecommunications industry competitive landscape, business (and regulatory) issues and economic trends to provide a comprehensive view of the industry. He gained this broad experience in over 40 years of technical marketing and sales engineering roles at network systems vendors as well as network architecture design roles at service providers.

The integration of emerging 400GE and 800GE services into legacy data center and carrier network environments requires a comprehensive understanding of the transport technology ecosystem. These transport technologies require advanced testing to support stable and consistent interconnections, especially as mission-critical storage applications evolve and rely on Ethernet as the communications backbone.

This webinar will tackle some of the challenges faced by the cable and interconnect industry and will explore evolutive test and measurement solutions capable of ensuring seamless and reliable communications for the myriad of applications served by high-speed Ethernet.

Key takeaways:

  • Testing challenges for evolving 400GE/800GE network services
  • Physical layer testing: paving the way for 800G standards
  • Use cases on critical interoperability
