To ensure that end subscribers get the very best quality of experience, operators must consider what technologies to use without breaking the proverbial bank. The most cost-effective solution currently available is the reuse of existing copper plant. There’s a lot of debate on what should replace copper infrastructure–FTTH or 5G–but your subscribers demand ultra-fast broadband solutions today. Akamai’s Q1 2017 State of the Internet report reported a global average internet speed of 7.2 Mbps, with South Korea leading the pack at 28.6 Mbps. The latest data compiled in May 2018 by UK company Cable puts the figure at 9.1 Mbps, with Singapore topping the rankings at an average of 60.39 Mbps. This webinar will explore how operators can offer aggregate speeds up to 400 Mbps for VDSL2-35b and up to 1 Gbps for Gfast over their existing copper networks. The focus will be on best practices using these two highly effective technologies, which will allow operators to deliver on the promise of ultra fast broadband while continuing to use their legacy copper plant.
