Yvon Rouault joined EXFO in January 2014 and holds the position of 5G Solutions Manager, in the Service Assurance division. In this position, he is in charge of the alignment of the optimization and monitoring solutions with the 5G market requirements.

With some 33 years of experience in the network testing and service assurance industry, Yvon has occupied various roles ranging from engineering, pre-sales and sales account management, product marketing, and CTO office advisor.

Prior to joining EXFO, he worked for leading companies such as Hewlett Packard, Agilent and Tektronix Communications. He has provided solutions in various networking domains, from transport networks (SDH, …), fixed networks (VoIP, SD-WAN), ‎switching and routing (ATM, IP, MPLS), and mobile networks for the past 10 years.

Yvon holds an engineering degree in Electronics and a master’s degree in Marketing Management from HEC Paris. He has lived and worked in France, Canada and Germany.

Telecom operators are looking to serve their customers better and better to generate more revenue—and specifically, better average revenue per user (ARPU), with the goal of selling them new services and retaining the most profitable subscribers. Likewise, mobile operators are trying to draw subscribers into the same virtuous circle. The difficulty for mobile networks is that they are dependent on external resources: access networks are heterogeneous, the “last mile” is over the air, making it difficult to control its quality, and over-the-top (OTT) services are provided by third-party sources.

End-to-end testing is concerned with verifying that the mobile network infrastructure is able to deliver the services at the expected quality level (network QoS). It is about ensuring that the radio access meets the expected coverage and radio performance, and that the transported service meets subscribers’ expectations in terms of quality of experience (end-to-end).

Several techniques, which are covered in detail during this webinar, are used to verify, troubleshoot and optimize the end-to-end wireless ecosystem.
