Subject Matter Expert

François Marcotte is a Senior member of technical staff and Subject Matter Expert at EXFO. With 30+ years in the telecom industry, he started as a repair tech for DMS-100 systems. Over the years, François has acquired expert knowledge on Ethernet, IP, OTN and high speed optical technologies. He is continuously working with customers as a technical advisor for testing high speed systems and troubleshooting 5G performance. François is involved with product definition and guidance at EXFO for Ethernet and optical transport solutions. He regularly contributes as a speaker in various seminars and webinars. François graduated in electrical engineering from Polytechnique Montreal.

Tho Quang Nguyen

Lead Application Engineer at Henkel Corporation

Tho Nguyen, Lead Application Engineer for Henkel’s Adhesive Technologies business, supports the company’s telecom and datacom market sector. With an application engineering career spanning nearly eight years, Tho has expertise in fluoropolymers and thermal interface materials, holds two B.S. degrees (Chemical Engineering and Mathematics) from the University of Minnesota, and has filed 15 patents.  In his current role, Tho is focused on thermal interface materials for use in telecom infrastructure and data center applications and is based in Henkel’s Chanhassen, MN facility.

Howard Wang

Product Owner for Optical Front-Ends at Nokia

Howard Wang is part of Nokia’s Optical Subsystems Group, where he is product owner responsible for silicon photonic optical front-end products and application engineering for optics subsystems. Howard joined Nokia via the acquisition of Elenion in 2020. Prior to Nokia Howard was part of the Network Architecture and Engineering team at Bank of America responsible for the redesign and build-out of the bank’s nationwide coherent metro DWDM network. Howard earned his BS, MS and PhD in Electrical Engineering from Columbia University, where he focused on photonic-network and switch architectures for High Performance Computing and data center applications, and has more than 40 publications in scientific journals and conferences proceedings.

Stephen Hardy

Editorial Director at Lightwave

Stephen Hardy is editorial director and associate publisher of Lightwave and Broadband Technology Report, part of the Lighting & Technology Group at Endeavor Business Media. Stephen is responsible for establishing and executing editorial strategy across both brands’ websites, email newsletters, events, and other information products. He has covered the fiber optic space for more than 20 years, and communications and technology for more than 35 years. During his tenure, Lightwave has received awards from Folio: and the American Society of Business Press Editors (ASBPE) for editorial excellence. Prior to joining Lightwave in 1997, Stephen worked for Telecommunications magazine and the Journal of Electronic Defense. 

Pluggable optical transceivers are finding new use cases, particularly in the coherent realm. Advances in transceiver technology are making these new use cases possible. The speakers in this webinar will detail some of the enabling technologies that are bringing new performance levels to the field as well as the strategies for ensuring that next-generation transceivers meet expectations.
