QUEBEC CITY, CANADA, August 31, 2016—EXFO Inc. (NASDAQ: EXFO; TSX: EXF) announced today that it collaborated with a Tier-1 mobile network operator (MNO) in Latin America to test their virtualized mobile packet core (vEPC).
EXFO supplied the necessary equipment and expertise to execute a comprehensive set of scenarios against a multivendor virtual EPC environment. The tests were performed using EXFO’s QualityAssurer test platform. The QualityAssurer supports the industry’s highest performance and capacity, which makes it ideal for benchmarking wireless networks.
During testing, different combinations of service chains were subjected to real-world traffic patterns defined by the MNO. A number of KPIs, such reliability, elasticity, responsiveness, resiliency and performance of the vEPC were measured by EXFO’s QualityAssurer.
“The migration toward NFV will require a major overhaul of wireless networks; therefore, MNOs should perform comprehensive testing of virtualized network functions before they are deployed,” said Alvin Francis, Director and GM of EXFO’s Wireless Business Unit. “We are very happy to have been selected as a partner by this MNO.”
