EXFO’s mixed mapping verification solution speeds up OTN testing

QUEBEC CITY, CANADA, September 05, 2017—EXFO Inc. (NASDAQ: EXFOTSX: EXF), the network test, monitoring and analytics experts, today announced the addition of mixed mapping multichannel OTN testing to the FTBx-88200NGE PowerBlazer 100G multiservice test module. Supported in the LTB-8 Rackmount Platform for use in lab environments, this module is also compatible with EXFO’s portable FTB-2 Pro and FTB-4 Pro platforms for go-anywhere flexibility. This solution provides network equipment manufacturers (NEMs) with the most comprehensive method to detect errors and alarms as well as monitor service disruptions on all 80 ODU channels simultaneously. NEMs can develop and deliver high-speed optical transport network (OTN) solutions to the market faster and more reliably.

The mixed mapping capability of the FTBx-88200NGE provides simultaneous testing of different sized containers, helping lab technicians to simulate real-life traffic scenarios during the verification of OTN switches. Typically, technicians test each channel individually, slowing down both the pace of equipment validation and solution time to market. EXFO speeds up mixed mapping verification by enabling lab techs to fill and test the entire 100G OTU4 container and validate all inserted OTUk channels simultaneously. This speeds up testing for maximum efficiency while pushing the OTN equipment under test to the limit of its capacity.

“OTNs are the choice digital vessels for transporting ever-growing quantities and differing types of data traffic,” said Stéphane Chabot, EXFO’s Vice President, Test and Measurement. “With the ability to perform mixed mapping verification and test up to 800 Gbit/s simultaneously on the LTB-8 Rackmount Platform, our customers can confidently and more efficiently verify their OTN solutions.”
