EXFO Equipment Used to Validate Infinera and DANTE’s Optical Capacity World Record
EXFO is proud to announce that its FTB-500 platform equipped with FTB-85100G 100Gbit/s Ethernet Tester and FTB-5240S Optical Spectrum Analyzer were the preferred tools used to validate Infinera Networks (INFN) and DANTE’s (Delivery of Advanced Network Technology to Europe) setting of a new Guinness World Record across the GEANT Network.

(NASDAQ: EXFO) (TSX: EXF)is proud to announce that its FTB-500 platform equipped with FTB-85100G 100Gbit/s Ethernet Tester and FTB-5240S Optical Spectrum Analyzer were the preferred tools used to validate Infinera Networks (INFN) and DANTE’s (Delivery of Advanced Network Technology to Europe) setting of a new Guinness World Record across the GEANT Network.
Infinera and DANTE installed and activated an astonishing 8 Terabits per second (Tbit/s) of long haul super-channel optical capacity in only 19 min 01 sec, the fastest rate recorded for provisioning multi-Terabit optical capacity. The record was set using an Infinera Intelligent Transport Network, featuring the DTN-X packet optical transport networking platform, deployed on the GÉANT backbone across a long distance link from Amsterdam, The Netherlands to Hamburg, Germany. GÉANT is the largest research and education communications network in Europe with over 50 million users located at 10,000 different academic and government research establishments.
EXFO’s validation equipment, recommended and supplied by test equipment sourcing specialist Livingston, offered the ease of use, portability, depth of CFP test functionality and high degree of repeatability required to ensure accurate test results. The FTB-85100G Packet Blazer is the industry’s first compact, portable 100G Ethernet tester, fully compliant with IEEE 802.3ba standard. The FTB-5240S/BP are highly accurate OSAs for current and next-generation networks, covering DWDM applications and all channel spacings, from 50GHx DWDM to CWDM.
