SONET/SDH Network Service Turn-Up
Next-generation SONET/SDH technologies are key enablers in helping service providers deliver value-added end-to-end Ethernet transport services, and reconfigurable add/drop multiplexers (ROADM) are allowing service providers much greater flexibility in network provisioning and service turn-up. Consequently, this shift has created the need for quality-of-service (QoS) assurance to validate the reliability and caliber of the services. Today, service providers are facing a growing customer demand to assign different QoS levels to each type of service they offer and guarantee that level of quality based on service-level agreements (SLAs). Failure to respect the QoS requirements often results in damage compensation by the service provider.
