With end-user customers embracing the cloud paradigm, service providers now have to deliver on their promise of high-quality service-level agreements (SLAs) as they are looking to capitalize on this new source of revenues.

With applications now residing on virtual servers, delivering cloud connectivity requires high-speed, high-performance and high-availability services with connectivity to (user-to-content) and in between (content-to-content) applications.

The explanation is simple: While data-center availability is at the core of quality of experience (QoE) for end customers, not being able to access different applications—or worse, connecting to those applications with an underperforming network infrastructure—will have as much impact on QoE as the application’s availability.

OTDRs are often used with a launch fiber/cable, and may also use a receive fiber/cable.
