Applications

  • Complete test lifecycle coverage: feature, negative, load, regression, interoperability and scalability testing
  • CMS testing for traffic security and QoS management support

Key Features

  • 320 000 emulated MTAs, 200 emulated CMTSs and 320 000 emulated endpoints per chassis
  • Supports up to 80 000 security associations with the CMS per chassis
  • Generation and termination of hundreds of calls per second on each Ethernet port
  • Simultaneous emulation of various NCS traffic characteristics (uniform, step, and burst) with or without IPSec and D-QoS
  • User-definable NCS messages and call flow
  • IPSec with dynamic key exchange (Kerberos, PKINIT) or with pre-shared keys D-QoS (COPS) support
  • Price competitiveness: unmatched scalability, performance and multi-user capabilities

VoIP popularity is growing and cable operators are well positioned to play a major role as VoIP providers thanks to the PacketCable™ project, which leverages the existing cable infrastructure by building the VoIP architecture on top of the established DOCSIS cable network.

This new network introduces challenges that network operators and network equipment manufacturers will face to ensure network readiness for planned traffic volume, security, QoS and interoperability. The call management server (CMS) is responsible for traffic security and QoS management, and plays a crucial role in PacketCable VoIP network.
