This content package is for service providers using the Brix System to proactively test their core IP/MPLS network. Service providers depend on a complex core network topology built using OSPF, IS-IS, BGP and MPLS routing. The core network supports multiple converged services, each with unique service quality objectives, delivered over multiple classes of service.

In this complex environment, network engineers, operators and planners must identify if quality problems exist in the network. Then, they must decide whether to repair the fault or upgrade the capacity to solve the problem. They need information, not just raw data, to find and fix problems. They must put the network testing metrics into the context of the network topology and structure they understand. They also need both a historical view to determine how long the problem has been developing and current data to see what the situation is right now. They have to isolate the problem to identify exactly where in the network the problem is occurring. And, they need to diagnose the problem and determine what must be done to fix it.

The BrixView IP MPLS Engineering Report Package helps engineers, operators and planners build personalized dashboards, portals and reports that help them with these problems. The key quality indicators (KQIs) and key performance indicators (KPIs) collected via network testing provide insight into the true nature of the problem at the service level, instead of at the equipment level. The reports in this package can be used to identify if the network has problems, to isolate where those problems are, as well as to diagnose the nature and cause of the problems.
