Ethernet Network Interface Units

There is constant pressure on service providers to reduce operating expenditures (OPEX), network downtime and mean-time-to-repair (MTTR). Ethernet network interface units (ENIUs) are low-cost network devices that can provide quick savings, while increasing network availability.

ENIUs can be installed at remote locations, as demarcation points between the provider and customer networks. These devices enable remote testing for single-ended commissioning, monitoring, and SLA management, thus providing the sought-after OPEX savings by reducing truck rolls. The ENIU supports remote loopback functions, remote alarm indication, media conversion, bandwidth provisioning and link monitoring.

Recommended Remote Ethernet Testing Solutions

Our remote Ethernet testing solution consists of two components: The ENIU and a portable Ethernet analyzer (such as the FTB-8510B Packet Blazer). One of the most critical aspects at this stage is qualifying the network to ensure that it’s ready for customer traffic and that it will provide subscribers with the service quality they expect. Proper testing is the only way to guarantee that all the required transmission specifications are met by the network.
