Marketing Writer/Editor

The Marketing Writer/Editor’s main responsibility is to ensure the linguistic integrity and effectiveness of the communication tools developed by the group. In addition to writing and revising texts, you will participate in brainstorms to create marketing communication campaigns for EXFO products. You will be part of the Marketing Communications department, which consists of project managers, marketing writers, graphic designers as well as web and multimedia integrators. You will work closely with project managers and marketing managers, advising them regularly on correct English usage as well as on the effectiveness of the material.

Responsibilities:

  • Write and/or edit English texts mainly for marketing materials aimed at commercializing the company’s products. Examples of documents include: ads, brochures, posters, product catalogs, promotional e-mails, website content, technical articles, visual aids for tradeshow booths, financial reports, press releases, internal communications, etc.
  • Ensure the linguistic integrity of materials until final delivery
  • Update product information in technical documents and on the company website (through a CMS application)
  • Provide linguistic support for the company’s communications
  • Generate and develop concepts/ideas that will be used and adapted for various marketing materials for product launches
  • Develop and write content for web and multimedia projects
  • Take on any other task related to this position (when needed)

TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Excellent writing and language skills, with professional-level knowledge of English grammar and spelling, as well as the ability to fully tap into the creative potential of the language.
  • Ability to understand and process technical information to make it more accessible to readers
  • Ready to learn and apply the company’s in-house writing style guide (based on a well-known US reference)
  • Knowledge of web content management systems (CMS) and experience in writing for the web will be considered assets
  • Knowledge of French will be considered an asset
  • Knowledge of telecom basics and related terminology will also be considered an asset

ACADEMIC AND PROFESSIONAL REQUIREMENTS

Academic requirements: Bachelor’s degree in a related linguistic field (writing, English, languages, translation, journalism, communications, linguistics, teaching languages, literature, etc.), and the ability to process technical information to make it more accessible to readers

Language requirements:

  • Excellent marketing writing abilities (must show creativity)
  • Professional-level knowledge of English (grammar, syntax, subtleties, etc.)
  • Knowledge of French will be considered an asset

Experience: Minimum of five (5) years in marketing writing
